I’m also a piper. I learnt to play in Zimbabwe, and have been fortunate enough to perform with the South African Irish Regiment Pipes & Drums, travel internationally as a guest of the Drums & Pipes of the Cape Town Highlanders and am a correspondent member of South Africa’s champion grade two band, the Transvaal Scottish Pipes & Drums.

It’s more than just music. I’ve made lifelong friends and have travelled further than I ever thought possible on an odd, ancient instrument like this one.

Oh. And it’s a ridiculous amount of fun.
